About Finding Joy
Finding Joy was born from love.
In March 2023, I lost my beloved wife, Joy Marsh Hooker after a diagnosis of inoperable and incurable breast cancer. Like so many families, our lives were changed forever by this devastating disease. In the midst of grief, I wanted to create something meaningful that would keep Joy's spirit alive and continue to bring light into the lives of others.
That dream became Finding Joy.
Nestled in the beautiful seaside town of Cowes on the Isle of Wight, Finding Joy is more than just a shop. It is a peaceful and welcoming space where kindness, compassion, and human connection come first. Every day, people walk through our doors and share their stories, stories of loved ones lost, battles won, challenges faced, and moments of hope found along the way.
While Finding Joy is not a charity, it has always been about something greater than retail. It exists to spread awareness, understanding, love, and kindness. It is a place where conversations happen naturally, where people feel heard, and where the memory of those we hold dear continues to live on.
We are incredibly proud of what Finding Joy has become. What started as a way to honour Joy's memory has grown into a community built on warmth and genuine connection. I often think about how she would feel seeing the impact this little shop has had on so many people, and I know she would be proud.
Like many independent retailers in tourist destinations, we face challenges, especially during the quieter winter months. Creating this website is an important step in helping Finding Joy continue its journey throughout the year, ensuring that our doors remain open and our message continues to reach people far and wide.
Thank you for visiting, for supporting a small independent business, and for becoming part of our story.
Most importantly, thank you for helping us keep Finding Joy alive.
With love,
Founder, Finding Joy
